WHAT LIES AHEAD – THE OUTLOOK
With 5G, CSPs face a choice – they can continue to build networks for digital innovators to use and thrive, or they can become digital innovators themselves. By applying web-scale IT innovations in a meaningful manner to telecom, the scale, agility, and on-demand service capabilities of the Internet can be delivered via 5G.
Customer interaction can start on any channel; customers expect to be able to switch channels and proceed at their convenience with service continuity. For CSPs, it is important to understand the digital signals from customers across their digital journeys and be present in the important micro-moments to present relevant offers to them.
The initial coverage of 5G rollouts globally focuses on the consumer market and improved download speeds, but the true promise of 5G will be evident in many varied use cases that will affect a range of industries—and most of the far-reaching potential will be outside the view of the public.
CSP partnerships are indispensable in delivering 5G services. While upgrading network infrastructure is a priority for CSPs globally, they should also prioritize investments in B2B partner management systems, lest they fail to adequately monetize 5G investments
